Art Show With Rolando Diaz

So I have an amazing opportunity coming up for my music. Cuban native Rolando Diaz makes a living by painting oil-canvas paintings in front of live audiences with the help of a musical artist. He feeds off of and lets the music create his works of art. He's putting on a show in Longview, and he wants me to perform for him and his painting.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 1. It starts at 3:30 and will go to 5:30. After he is done painting, he will auction it off for charity. He did a performance last night in Austin with the band Little Feat, and afterwards the painting sold for $6,000.

I talked to Rolando earlier today, and we're both excited to see what will happen at this event!

Dallas Cowboys Birthday

So I'm going to my first pro-football game on Monday, September 28, 2009. My dad and I are going to Arlington to see the Dallas Cowboys host the Carolina Panthers. We're also going to see the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays play on Sunday, September 27. We're doing this for my birthday mainly, but also because we really want to see the Cowboys play in their new stadium.

I can't wait! :-D

Hurry Up Texas

It's Monday, June 1, 2009. I should be starting my new job today, but the facility is still waiting on the state to finalize the move to Tyler. All the paperwork and other "formalities" were due by the end of May, so now we're just waiting on the state to give its blessing.

I kinda need to start this job now due to my financial burden that's about to bite me in the ass starting in July. $19,000 in student loans isn't pretty, but it could be worse.

Baseball, Movies, and "Aarolyn"

My dad and I are going to the Rangers/Yankees game tonight! Last night's game started with a 2 hour, 24 minute rain delay. Tonight's game should start on time... weather forecast shows just 10% precipitation in the area at 7pm. GO RANGERS!

I saw Terminator Salvation last night with my grandmother. You may ask "Why see that with your grandma?" My very first rated R movie that I saw was Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and I saw it at her house when I was about 12 years old. I thought it was amazing. That, and we both love going to movies. She's always taken me to the movies, and I couldn't watch the new Terminator movie without her.

My best friend, Aaron, is back from his 7-month naval deployment, and he and his wife Carolyn (hence the name "Aarolyn") are currently on the road back to Texas. I just called them and they were sitting at a Waffle Shop in Mississippi. He's been driving all night, so they took a little bit of a break. They're about 7 hours out, so soon enough they'll be back home! Excited!!

So I reserved myself a copy of Call of Duty 6 Modern Warfare 2 today and got a nifty poster with my purchase. It's awesome.

My dad and I are going to the Texas Rangers/New York Yankees game on Wednesday. I went to high school with Rangers first baseman Chris Davis. He graduated a year after I did, and we're also members of the same church. Baller.

UFC 98

Lyoto Machida beat Rashad Evans for the UFC title last night! Congrats Machida!

Scott and I found the apartment we'll be renting from. We're putting in our deposit this next week, then either moving in next month or in August.

I'm also preparing my resume for the probation officer position in Smith County. Weeee!!!

At work again... 5-9. Next week will be my last week with my current job, then I'll be starting my new one. I've been at my church's recreational facility for 5 years now, so I'm ready for the change.

Memorial Day Weekend is here! Tomorrow should be fun... my friend and future roommate are going to scope out an apartment we believe will be the one we'll rent at, then we're going to watch a karate tournament being put on by a local martial arts school. Afterwards, I'll be speaking with a friend about a possible probation officer position opening soon, then we're all meeting up at a friend's place to watch UFC 98. Sweet.

Cancun

My brother took a trip to Cancun, Mexico with his girlfriend last week. He's back in town visiting through the weekend, and he's told me all about the trip. Plus, I've seen some of the pictures they've posted on their respective facebook pages.

I'd love to go sometime. That Coco Bongo club sounds like a blast!

Subsequently titled "#1", this is my first blog on this blogging site.

Only one more week until I start my new job working with a state-funded organization that takes care of kids who have been abused and neglected. I've worked with kids for a long time, and hope to take in all of my positive experiences in to this new environment and make a difference.

I'm also pursuing other career ideas. Probation is one of them. I'll be speaking with someone about that tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
